Mourning Doves

Mourning Doves by Crossed Wing Collection

One of my earliest memories is of my mother taking my hand and, warning me to be very quiet, leading me to a low branch of an evergreen where a mourning dove was sitting on her eggs. Not colorful, but still beautiful in their own way, these birds come to our birdfeeder and graze on the spillage on the ground.

When I purchased this pattern, I splurged on a piece of hand-dyed linen as recommended by the designer. This is only my second attempt at evenweave (the first, Fairy Grandmother, is also a WIP).

Here is a shot of my progress as of the start of this blog, 1-5-07.
