Guardian Angel

Guardian Angel by Janlynn

My aunt has had a framed print of the painting this is based on, for over 70 years. When I was a little girl I would climb up close to it and study every detail until I could almost feel the slivers in the bridge on bare feet. I recently told her how much I love that picture, so she took it down from the wall to write on the back that it is to go to me when she is gone. I almost cried.

I was delighted to find a very nice cross stitch interpretation of this image.

Treasured Friend Teapot

Treasured Friend Teapot, Dimensions Kit

I just ordered this kit tonight (1-17-07). I will have to really push to finish it for a friend who has a birthday in February. It will move to the top of my rotation as soon as it arrives.

Progress photo as of 2-4-07:

I didn't get it finished in time for the party. I giftwrapped it anyway and presented it with the explanation that I had to take it home and finish it.
I didn't work on it for some time, as my fingers were cramped up from too much stitching. Now it is coming along. Progress photo as of 5-22-07:

Mourning Doves

Mourning Doves by Crossed Wing Collection

One of my earliest memories is of my mother taking my hand and, warning me to be very quiet, leading me to a low branch of an evergreen where a mourning dove was sitting on her eggs. Not colorful, but still beautiful in their own way, these birds come to our birdfeeder and graze on the spillage on the ground.

When I purchased this pattern, I splurged on a piece of hand-dyed linen as recommended by the designer. This is only my second attempt at evenweave (the first, Fairy Grandmother, is also a WIP).

Fairy Grandmother

Fairy Grandmother by Marilyn Leavitt-Imblum

My mother has seen me working on this, but does not know it is for her. I traded for this kit with a forum member who saw it on my wishlist. When it arrived, I emailed her that I may have gotten in over my head. Her response was, "Just remember, it is only one little X at a time", hence the name of my stitching blog.

My WIP pic from the last time I worked on it, 7-10-03.

Two of our favorite things on the farm are goldfinches and morning glories. This will hang in our blue-and-white kitchen when it is finished.
